When Emily was first taken to the RSPCA’s Danaher Animal Home as a stray, everyone there was shocked by her state. She was so weak and barely weighed anything that it was clear she needed all the care and affection the shelter could offer.
According to a news release from Louisa Duranti, the deputy animal center manager of Danaher Animal Home, “she was little more than skin and bones.” “We put her on a specific diet, feeding her frequently at small amounts to gradually increase her weight and strength.”
With the help of all her new friends, Emily put on almost 10 pounds in only a few short weeks.
She was apprehensive because of everything she had been through, but she slowly began to break out of her box. Once she was healthy and healed, a wonderful family quickly inquired about her and adopted her into their new home.
“We saw Emily’s tale and photographs and it broke our hearts,” said Emily’s new father, Mark Colbear, in a news release. We felt driven to apply so that we might help her.
Even while Emily still experiences occasional anxiety in her new home, she has made a remarkable recovery from the time she initially came to the shelter.
Everyone who has been part of her healing path is overjoyed to see her growing. She looks like an entirely new dog.
According to Colbear, Emily is doing wonderful and has now pretty much adjusted to her new home. “We’ve taught her to eat entire meals, despite the fact that she still occasionally struggles with fear, particularly at night. Hugs in the armchair with us seem to help, even though we can only speculate on what she has been through.
Undoubtedly, she is pushing outside of her comfort zone and discovering her voice. She makes happy little grunts while we play outside or tend to her in her beanbag.
It was impossible to imagine Emily as a happy, healthy puppy when she was first saved.
Because her new family is just so happy to see her self-confidence growing, they don’t mind at all. She is now succeeding so well, in fact, that she occasionally feels at ease breaking the law.
Colbear said, “We’re really privileged to have her and are so delighted that we’ve been able to offer her a nice permanent home after everything she has gone through.”
