Recently in Ithaca, a major road had something in the center of it that caught the attention of New York State Trooper LaVonte’ Lee. It was a mother squirrel and her little squirrel. Lee stopped.
The squirrels were reluctant to leave Lee’s side after he had carried them off the road.

They stayed perched on Lee’s arm, though.
The young squirrels looked to be aware that they had found the best source of assistance.
The police report states that Lee stepped in to save the day. He seems to have picked quite a few new pals. Baby squirrels that have fallen out of their nests are regularly found on the ground.

The wisest course of action in this situation, according to experts, is to return them. Exactly that is what Lee did.
In a nearby tree, Lee discovered what appeared to be the squirrels’ nest. He placed them there so their mother would find them. It’s unlikely that Lee will quickly forget that it was a call to duty.

Thanks to Lee’s efforts that day, there has been a well-deserved outpouring of appreciation online and from his fellow police officers.
One of the primary goals of the New York State Police, a police official told The Dodo, is to safeguard people and their property. “No matter how big or small.”
