A Serbian guy has over a thousand abandoned animals that he has saved throughout the years, continuing his mother’s tradition.

Svetlana, Degan’s Serbian mother, had a deep affection for animals.

Through the efforts of a mother and son over the past 20 years, hundreds of fluffies have found new homes. Svetlana’s top priority was to assist animals. Her son fulfilled a woman’s hope. The man now owns a refuge for dogs.

In their hometown of Comic, the mother and son first only fed stray dogs. The villagers were supportive of this idea. The fame of Svetlana and Degan grew over time. People came together to support them, giving them food and money. Therefore, feeding animals evolved into a genuine homeless rescue effort.

In 1997, the family was able to establish their own haven. A few years later, Svetlana passed away. Degan, on the other hand, persisted in her struggle for their common goal. The man was made to work alone, which was very challenging.

But he succeeded, and the shelter is still open. In 2014, Degan acquired the property in the Gledic Mountains and built a wolf refuge there.

These are the national animals of Serbia, but poachers have seriously endangered them. Despite the fact that caring for so many animals for more than 20 years is quite difficult, Degan never gives up. Kind people’s donations and volunteer work go a long way to helping him.
