Lt. Dan, who was abandoned as a puppy and was later born without the use of his back legs, was cared for by the Bialy’s Wellness Foundation (BWF) after being brought to the Woof Gang rescue facility in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States.

Since November of last year, the mutt has been receiving physical treatment at a canine rehabilitation center in Chicago, and he has undergone a miraculous recovery.
Lt. Dan has come a long way from being a sick puppy who had to drag himself about on the floor to finally being able to walk.

The dog had been living with Erin Kowalski from BWF for four months until one of his therapists decided to adopt him after falling in love with him.
We don’t know if Lt. Dan’s paresis is the consequence of a congenital defect or if it occurred during labor, Erin added.

“All we know is that he couldn’t utilize his hind legs when he was born. Lt. Dan has made great progress in his therapy. He had significant hind limb paresis and had to drag his rear legs to go about.”

He is now standing up, moving forward, and walking!
Lt. Dan now has a physical therapist for a father and can work on his hind limb function for the rest of his life, thus it was the ideal fit.
