The “world’s heaviest puppy,” who weighs a stunning 10 stone at only 10 months old, has been sent to a tiny dog rescue center.

The huge dog, Tzar, is a Caucasian Ovcharka, and it was donated to a charity by a guy who had spent £3,000 bringing the endangered species into the country from his home Russia.

Tzar, who descended from canines that hunted wolves and bears, is predicted to reach a whopping 16 stone in weight.

The big mutt is already gobbling through £300 worth of food per month, so the rescue center is now looking for a loving family to take him in. Male Caucasian Ovcharka dogs can weigh up to 16 stone and consume two enormous bowls of dog chow each day.

We think Tzar is the biggest puppy in the world,” said Kathy Trout of the West Yorkshire Dog Rescue in Huddersfield.

Tzar was turned over by a man who entered the building after leaving the West Yorkshire Stray Dog Pound.

He had to deal with brutality; someone had removed his ears and tail, likely to prevent injury if he were to get involved in a dogfight.

He is currently living in foster care on a 15-acre smallholding that also has horses, sheep, chickens, pigs, cats, and dogs. He is being kept in special quarantine kennels until the kennel cough incubation period is through, after which the Rescue will reintegrate him with other dogs.
