A podgy dog has successfully battled the flab and reduced his waistline by 10 cm with the help of a pet slimming club.

Jack Russell Max, who previously weighed two stone and was the size of a typical three-year-old toddler, was infamous for poking his snout into candy jars.

However, the six-year-old has lost a fifth of his body weight since he began going to the dog exercise class.

He has been known to stick his head in a candy jar and consume the contents, even the wrappers, so his owner Emma Harrison, 30, from Hull, said: “We’ve had to be particularly careful to keep food away from him!”

Max has lost a fifth of his body weight thanks to a pet fitness program conducted by the animal welfare organization PDSA.

Her family helped Max get the number of walks he needs to keep in shape after they saw he was piling on too many pounds.

In addition, the greedy dog was prohibited from consuming extra snacks and biscuits as part of a six-month diet that has helped him lose weight.

“We’re over the moon with how well Max has done,” Emma remarked.

Now, as a family, we endeavor to ensure that he takes at least six lengthy walks each week. Max has seen significant change while losing weight.”

“The pet fit club has given us the drive to encourage him to continue losing weight.”
