The shelter received an influx of inquiries when Sophie, the corgi-collie mix, made headlines last week. Sophie has been without a home for almost ten years.
She is now established with a new family and has a cozy spot in front of the fire thanks to her very own Christmas miracle.

The 11-year-old dog, who had been with Hilbrae Kennels since she was barely two years old, was frequently overlooked in favor of younger pups and more popular breeds.
Irene and Ken Duffy, dog enthusiasts, noticed her smiling face and decided they should meet her after reading her heartbreaking story.

In order to determine whether Sophie was the right dog for them, the couple traveled the two hours from their home in Oldham, Manchester, to the kennels where they took her on a walk and got to know her.
I called them right away to ask if we could see her after learning that she had been in the shelter for nine years, according to Irene.

“We consider her to be a little Christmas miracle and feel extremely fortunate to have had her join our family.”
