Businesswoman Niki discusses how she had always wanted a puppy but had been unable to due to her demanding profession. Niki French, a dog lover, left a demanding profession that required her to travel the world, along with a six-figure salary. But she was finally given the chance to fulfill her long-held desire to get a dog.

Niki traded in her 30-year corporate career for a less demanding life as a dog trainer after a bike accident left her with health concerns. “The moment I resigned from my job and understood I had more time and flexibility in my life, having a dog was my goal,” she says.
For more than four years, she put up with memory issues, shoulder pain, and poor energy levels before deciding to leave in 2019. And she acquired a puppy as one of her very first actions.

Soon after, Battersea got in touch with Niki and sent her a picture of Bodie, an eight-month-old lurcher-collie mix.
“The idea of becoming a dog trainer came to me when a friend of a friend discussed her plans. Her remark put a seed in my mind, and the more online research I did on dog training, the more certain I became that this was going to be my new vocation.”

So Niki began her professional dog training business and, at age three, lively, clever, and enthusiastic Bodie plays a significant role in her work.
