Following successful treatment, a puppy born with upside-down paws learned to walk again.

Whenever you go, you must crawl, leaning on your wrists. The 13-week-old rat terrier Siggi would have had to live like this for the rest of his life. Most likely, he would be euthanized.

There were kind people who wanted to help, fortunately. There was a small terrier born with upside-down paws. There were no fractures or injuries. It was born this way. It is believed that the puppy’s problems began during the puppy’s gestation or birth, according to surgeon Eric Clary. As the elbows emerged from the fragile joints, the paws shifted upward almost 180 degrees.

When Siggi entered the Dallas dog shelter, she was 13 weeks old. Like any other puppy, she was perfectly normal. Her paws were twisted, but she loved to play, wagged her tail, and was perfectly healthy. Due to her bent hind legs, Siggi had to lean on her wrists while moving. This obviously affected her quality of life. No matter what, the shelter decided to help the puppy.

A similar operation had already been performed at a clinic at the Veterinary University, by chance. Milo was rescued by Gabriela Iribar, led by Eric Clary. Siggi was entrusted to these people by the Dallas shelter. Both Gabriela and the little dog were supposed to have a difficult time. After a month and a half, Siggi was discharged. The puppy was returned to the shelter. Her rehabilitation would take a long time.

A challenge for Siggi was learning how to use her new paws. Practically re-learn how to walk. Lorraine mentored her as a young doctor. Every day, Siggi got stronger and better. She runs and plays with her friends just like a puppy now that she has grown up.
