Peanut and Cashew, inseparable shelter dogs, get married

In Bexar County, Texas, Chihuahua Peanut and his friend Cashew from SAHS San Antonio had the cutest and most adorable wedding.

It was due to the fact that the owners could no longer care for the dogs that they ended up in the shelter in April 2022. After their dental surgeries, the tailed creatures met in the asylum’s medical wing and quickly became close. Seeing Peanut and Cashew’s relationship developing, SAHS employees decided to marry them to attract potential owners’ attention.

The couple wore beautiful outfits and a small chapel was built for the wedding. Peanut and Cashew shared their sweet little wedding with SAHS shelter staff and volunteers, as well as their closest friends. The event featured a red carpet walk, soap bubbles, music, and cake! SAHS Public Relations Specialist Lucia Almanza explained.

Four-legged spouses are currently available for adoption separately, but the shelter staff hopes future owners will adopt both dogs together.
