Starla and Brian Sullivan of Renton, Washington, USA, realized a few years ago that their rent was too high.

Their only option was to move into a school bus instead of despairing. Brian thought Starla was joking when she suggested he move on a school bus.

After she explained all the benefits of this venture, he realized that it was actually the best decision for their family. Ultimately, they bought an old school bus worth $2,800, where they moved with their three children, Charlie (3 years old), Henry (2 years old) and Lincoln (3 months old. The family has invested a lot of time and money into converting the bus into a cozy home.

The first results, however, came soon after their work began. An old bus has been transformed into a cozy home complete with a living room and kitchen. Additionally, they created a nice bathroom with a bathtub. They now pay $500 a month for rent, which is a third of what they were previously paying for tiny apartments.

In addition to lower electricity and water costs, the couple is now able to save for the education of their children. As a result of moving to cheaper housing, Brian no longer has to work overtime to pay his rent and can spend more time with his family. Even though the Sullivans live very happily in their bus, they admit that if they ever decide to move again, they will most likely choose an unusual place rather than a simple apartment.
