The fur color of the rescued cat has changed due to Vitiligo, and she now looks completely different

When Ellie and her sister were four months old, Nicole from Germany found them at a local farm.Medical attention was required immediately due to their health condition.

“They were useless, they had ticks and ear infections. The sight of them hurt me, so I took them both home,” Nicole explains. She had already considered getting a cat, but she didn’t expect to find one in this way.

As a result of proper care and love, the sisters began to recover.Their black and white coats resembled tuxedos. In the beginning, Ellie was incredibly affectionate and sociable.

Nine months later, Nicole had a vague sense that something unusual was going on when she noticed a small white streak in Ellie’s black fur.In the past, there were no white spots in this place. “At first I thought maybe the down was just stuck to her, and I tried to take it off, but when I attempted to do that, I found out that it was her own fur that I had to remove,” the woman says.I noticed that the cat’s coat continued to grow white tufts here and there for the next few months.

The cat was taken to a veterinarian by Nicole, hoping to find out why the color of the cat had changed. When she discovered that Ellie’s coat pigmentation had been disturbed due to a rare, non-dangerous disease called vitiligo, she was astonished. It is estimated that about 1% of the population has vitiligo, and even fewer animals – such as cats, dogs, and horses – have it.

Ellie is not bothered by pathology at all. It is important to remember that Vitiligo only affects the appearance of the cat, and it definitely adds to its charm. It has been a year since Nicole discovered the first strange strand of hair, and Ellie now has many more white spots on her head.Despite all of these transformations, Ellie doesn’t give a damn about them, she just enjoys life to the fullest. There was a time in Ellie’s childhood when she spent a whole year dressed up in a white tuxedo, but since then she hasn’t been given the recognition she deserves.“It is very cute that she keeps changing her fur from day to day,” explains Nicole.
