Meet Emma, a Londoner, and Dmitri, a cat of Greek roots.
Dmitri had to have both of his eyes removed due to a severe infection. Dmitri is blind, but he has a keen sense of smell and hearing.
“It is hardly any different from caring for a sighted cat, says Emma. “I don’t have to make any adaptations to account for his blindness because he can navigate using his other senses. The only distinction is that he is unable to leave. He definitely enjoys it when I let him explore an enclosed yard when I take him to see family.”
He also examines the space with his paws.
Despite his inability to see, he has a high level of faith in people.
“0 eyes, 1 large heart” is what his TikTok bio says, and it’s a fairly accurate description of Dmitri’s character.
