Due to an uncommon kind of canine albinism, Sherlock the schnauzer cannot spend an extended amount of time in the strong Australian sun without suffering from serious sunburn.
The Melbourne dog needs to apply special dog sunscreen and wear sunglasses every time he goes outside since he also runs the risk of contracting lethal skin cancer. Sherlock was born with pristine white fur and bright blue eyes despite the fact that his mother was a typical, black schnauzer due to a rare genetic issue that results in a lack of pigment in the skin.

When he was only a newborn, Sherlock’s previous owners abandoned him. He is now 10 months old. He was temporarily entrusted to the care of dog-lover and ten-year animal foster mother Netta McKay, but she fell in love with his sweet character right away and made the decision to permanently adopt him.
I had absolutely no intention of retaining Sherlock, Netta declared.
“I foster a variety of dogs, and I always do the right thing by relocating them to new homes. But there was something about him that made me fall in love with him right away. Although I had no idea what to expect, I did know that he belonged to our family.”

“I tell my husband that Sherlock is a genuine female magnet, especially with those sunglasses, so he is never allowed to walk him alone.”
According to Netta, a former tax department employee, and her business-owning husband Peter, 56, they felt Sherlock would fit in with their family wonderfully because they were aware of how to properly care for an albino dog.
In dogs, albinism can lead to eyesight and hearing issues, but other than his peculiar appearance, Sherlock doesn’t exhibit any long-lasting symptoms.

And he has amassed millions of fans on Facebook and Instagram thanks to his dog spectacles, known as “Doggles.” Sherlock has already joined Melbourne’s Animal Extras Talent Agency with the hopes of rising to even greater fame in the future. We are only able to go for walks outside in the late afternoon when it is almost dusk or when it is extremely cloudy. Since the light greatly hurts his eyes and makes him squint, we still need to apply sunscreen to him and provide him with sunglasses.”
“I’ve heard that certain albino dogs may experience a variety of health problems, including blindness and deafness.
“We are incredibly fortunate that he is healthy and joyful. We adore him a lot.
