Thanks to his incredibly powerful rear legs, a cat that can stand up has become the newest feline online celebrity.

When George the Munchkin-Exotic Short Hair cross meets a new person, can’t see the TV, or just feels like looking around, he perches on his hind legs.

George gained millions of new fans when his owner Andrew Park shared a number of photos of the adorable cat on his ‘George2Legs’ Facebook and Instagram profiles.

George is wonderful, but we don’t know why he always stands on his back legs, remarked Andrew.

He only recently began doing that, but now he perches on his back leg like a meerkat whenever he feels like it.

George was barely six weeks old when Andrew, 28, his wife Koa, 32, and their two daughters Andyn, 3, and Rhyan Patterson, 15, took him back to their Austin, Texas, home in August.

He started perching on his back legs after a few weeks, but no one in the family knows how or why he acquired the peculiar habit.

The family also has two pugs, Apples and Banana, but George quickly established himself as the alpha dog in the home, so the pugs now follow him everywhere.

He has really small front legs, which I believe is a genetic trait associated with the breed, so perhaps it’s simpler to stand up than it is to crawl up somewhere, said Andrew, a marketer.

Andrew and Koa posted a couple of George’s images on Facebook in an effort to spread the joy he offers them, and they were blown away by the response.
