An injured dog that had been dumped in a trash can has been saved.

The four-month-old Belgian Malinois was discovered abandoned last Saturday in Edgware, in north London.
The RSPCA was informed after the helpless puppy was brought to Medivet in Hendon.

The young canine, who has been given the name Drogo by the veterinarians taking care of him, has a broken leg and a dislocated elbow.

The RSPCA thinks the injuries were brought on by a fall and that the dog may have been left behind because its previous owners couldn’t afford the vet fees.

Poor Drogo is alleged to have been left in an Edgware public trash can, according to inspector Nicole Broster, who is conducting the investigation.

“He was seriously injured when he was carried into Medivet by a member of the public. Veterinarians suspect that a fall may have been the cause of the vet patient’s broken leg and dislocated elbow.

“They believe the injuries happened between 24 and 48 hours prior, but he did not obtain any care or painkillers. The information from the puppy’s microchip revealed his name was Bruno. However, according to the owners listed on the microchip, they found him a new home.

Sadly, we’ve come to a bit of a standstill, Ms. Broster said. “We spoke to the registered owner who indicated he’d rehomed Bruno and provided us with contact information for his new owners.

“He was in a terrible condition with serious injuries when a member of the public brought him to Medivet.”

Veterinarians think a tumble may have caused his broken leg and dislocated elbow, which he had. They believe he sustained the injury between 24 and 48 hours prior and did not receive any pain medication or medical attention.

The information from the microchip indicated that the dog was named Bruno. The owners listed on the microchip, however, claimed to have found him a new home.

“We spoke to the registered owner who claimed he’d rehomed Bruno and given us with contact information for his new owners, but unfortunately we’ve reached a bit of a dead end,” Ms. Broster stated.

When Drogo has healed, a loving permanent home will be found for him, Ms. Broster continued.
