A man whose husband died of cancer claims that his rescue dog gives him the strength to go on.

Nic Preston describes how Teddy, a rescue terrier, has assisted him in coping with his loss. Nic Preston didn’t realize the significance of Teddy, an 11-month-old terrier when he acquired him at the beginning of 2021.

Tragically, Nic would become a widower on Boxing Day, little than a year after bringing Teddy home, when his spouse Neil passed away from cancer. Since that time, Teddy has grown to be Nic’s trustworthy friend as he adjusts to life without Neil.

“My best friend, my comfort, and the reason I get out of bed in the morning is Teddy. Nick stated, “He has given me the guts and confidence to feel that I can continue.

Six weeks after Neil’s cancer diagnosis, he passed away in a hospice.

Nic adds, “It was so quick and stressful, but having Teddy around truly helped us both during those weeks.” When he was able to visit Neil in the hospice, he behaved extremely calmly rather than rushing about. He appeared to be aware of what was going on.

There were certain days in the first few months after Neil’s passing when I just did not want to get out of bed, but Teddy forced me to. I understood that I owed him something, so I couldn’t just give up. No of how I was feeling, he always made me feel better when we went for long walks or cuddled on the couch.
