It is believed that the Shih Tzus were the victims of puppy farming.
Around 100 scared dogs and puppies have been rescued from a single property. At a home in Devon, 96 Shih Tzus were abandoned last week.

The dogs ranged in age from a week to 12 years, were in poor shape, with worm and flea infestations, and their fur matted with feces and urine.
Several rescue organizations in Devon and Cornwall have taken the dogs in.
No matter how long you’ve worked in the rescue, Lisa Darcy, the deputy manager, said: “You are always horrified when you meet an animal that hasn’t been well-cared for.

“After the initial shock, we concentrate on what we can do to assist them. It is painful and utterly frustrating.”
a representative stated: “When they first arrived with us, the majority of the dogs were very matted, coated in their own feces, and had ammonia burns on their skin from residing in their own pee.

“To meet the requirement of needing to nurse the puppies, the mothers have been finding it difficult.
“Only for financial gain are these traumatized canines forced to endure such atrocious conditions. Seeing how simple it is for breeders to get away with it still is so disheartening.

“I’m happy we can give these pets the love, care, and consideration they require.”
