After being saved by the Houston SPCA earlier this month, dozens of hungry dogs, including a day-old puppy, are getting a new start.
According to a press statement from the donation-based non-profit, the Houston SPCA was able to enter the Houston Heights residence to save the animals thanks to an emergency warrant from Harris County Constable Precinct 1. Amazingly, all of the creatures were still alive.

According to the press statement, “the animals were living in appalling conditions as the home was cluttered with waste, feces, and a strong ammonia stench.”
After neighbors alerted police to the negligence case, their Animal Cruelty Investigation team and Harris County Constables Precinct 1 found the puppies, according to KPRC 2 News.

According to KHOU 11, the canines were excessively matted, malnourished, and coated with feces and urine.
The veterinary staff of the rescue and protection organization is currently providing care for all of the dogs, which includes cruelty examinations, immunizations, de-matting, and a diet plan.

Investigators looking into animal abuse are getting ready for a hearing for the county.
