Two elderly shih tzus who were found wandering the streets and brought to Animal Care Centers of NYC are adopted into a forever home together.

In order to be prepared when the time came to adopt, David Johnston and his husband Danny Costa had the plan to meet dogs and determine what breed would be best for them.

David says that adopting two senior shih tzus from Best Friends-New York was “honestly one of the best moves we’ve ever made” (proving that sometimes even the best intentions don’t work out for the best). They are simply ideal for us.

The notion of the dogs moving to someone else solidified David and Danny’s decision to adopt the two senior shih tzus when they first started thinking about doing so after seeing them at a Susie’s Senior Dogs adoption event. “Someone else would adopt them if we waited,” claims Danny. And we couldn’t allow it to occur.

They brought Sunny and Moon home that day, adopted them, and gave them new names: Frank and Sid. Frank, who enjoys receiving attention, is frequently seen lying on his back and waiting for a belly rub. The humorous person is Sid, who is smaller than Frank. Additionally, David and Danny leave a light on for him at night to prevent getting lost due of his poor eyesight.
