Koko once exploited for breeding, suddenly found herself in the middle of her pregnancy and in need of a home. Homeward Trails Animal Rescue stepped in to offer assistance at that point.
Although initially reserved, once she was placed in a foster home, Sue Bell, the executive director of the rescue, told The Dodo that “she came alive: affectionate, lively, and definitely wanted to be part of a family.”
To help her through the rest of her pregnancy, Koko was given to foster mother Cary Smith. Smith saw right away that the pregnant dog was highly expressive and photogenic.
This required images of the pregnancy, of course. Koko’s owner was more than happy to agree, too.
On Facebook, Smith claimed that Koko “wanted pregnancy beauty shots.” “I told her that this would be her last generation and that she wouldn’t have to go through this again. She fights so hard.
The outcomes were excellent.
Bell stated, “Her amazing foster mom decided to capture her enormous hippo-like belly with some shots. It changed into a real photo shoot to mirror what real mothers do.
After giving birth to nine healthy puppies, Koko moved to a new foster home to rest.
She’s been such an easy girl and the loveliest woman who lets me cuddle her like a baby, Smith wrote on Facebook.
Fortunately, Koko won’t go through this again, which makes the pregnancy photos even more special.
She has such a great disposition and is such a devoted mother, according to Smith. She also likes to bounce around the yard during the limited times during the day when she is not with her puppies.
The quest for Koko and her babies’ perfect forever homes, where they may receive the love they deserve, will soon begin.
Although Koko won’t be appearing in any more maternity photos, she will unquestionably improve any family shot.
