A five-year-old beagle-cross named Bonnie thought that life was more fascinating beyond the gate of her Bolney, West Sussex home, so she bolted away the moment she spotted an opening. Peter and Paula Closier, dog owners, did not at all find the incident amusing.

On July 10, they discovered their dog gone on Sunday morning. They claimed to have been feeding Bonnie and their other dog Cleo when she vanished, according to The Argus.
“We conducted a thorough check of the house, thinking that perhaps she is not interested in food. I couldn’t see her, Peter said. “I saw the gate had swung as I was making my way back to the kitchen and I thought, ‘Oh no.'”

They swiftly put together a search team, including their two kids and neighbors, to look for the missing dog. In a last-ditch effort to locate their pet Bonnie, Peter and Paula even called the police, the neighborhood veterinarians, and the dog warden.

There was still no sign of her three hours later. We were terrified because we live close to a major road. We were concerned that Bonnie, who was once a street dog, wouldn’t have known to return, said Paula.
Minutes after Bonnie had escaped, John Wilmer, who had two dogs of his own, was traveling to a dog show when he noticed Bonnie sitting by the road.

When he shared a photo of her on Facebook, Peter and Paula were finally able to locate her. John made the decision to enroll the well-behaved puppy in the dog competition too where the dog won the rosette.
The beginner returned home in good health and wearing a third-place rosette. Bonnie is a gifted young lady, that much is certain.
