Stevie was found in a terrible state by workers from the Organization for the Protection of Animals (SPCA) in Lancaster County, South Carolina.

The chains he was wearing and his half-blindness caused his eyelids to be dry and dismal. There’s always hope with such loyal creatures’ lovers! After being rescued, Stevie was taken to Diamonds in the Ruff, a New York sanctuary that works regularly with the SPCA. Taking into consideration what he has been through over the last eight months, they helped him find a loving foster family to help him heal both physically and psychologically.

On the other hand, Erin Boyd and her husband have extensive experience working with overlooked living creatures, so they’re confident Stevie will make it. They were absolutely right! For an animal that has been compelled to lay in the snow and rain his whole life, this is a very natural response. Even so, he soon recovered and appeared happier and stronger.

It would be much more exciting for Stevie if his foster mother surprised him with a brand-new mattress.
