In order to take care of her demanding children, a cat charmed a household dog. In Virginia, a pregnant tabby cat was placed in a foster home by the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.
When she was about two years old, she was extremely friendly to strangers, confident, and felt right at home. Kona, a cat-loving dog who is the world’s greatest nanny for babies, became her best friend as she got to know the local cats and dogs. As the babies were leaving the foster room, Kona, the kitty nanny extraordinaire, heard them. When she realized there were fresh babies waiting for her, her eyes lit up, and her tail waggled. Freckles, the tabby, smeared her face all over Kona.
Freckles gave birth to six healthy kittens a few weeks later. As soon as she became a mother, she committed herself to taking care of her children every minute of every day. Kona was surprised by the “uninvited” visitor and Freckles motioned to her to return another time
She had earned a pass inside the kitty cave a few times to hang out with freckles and her demanding kittens.
