She never tires of thanking her dog Eva, who lives in North Carolina. The woman and her pet walked along the Trinity River coast last Monday.

She didn’t have time to reach the water – a mountain lion blocked her path.It is rare to see mountain lions in this area, and they usually stay away from humans. It was clear, however, that this predator was hungry.Erin was immediately attacked by the animal, which rushed at her and hit her with its paw, tearing her jacket and causing injury to her shoulder.

Her two-year-old Belgian Malinois rushed to the mountain lion before she could call the dog.Even though the fight lasted only a few seconds, the dog was badly injured. As the mountain lion grabbed the dog’s head, it refused to let go.

Stones and sticks were thrown at Erin in an attempt to drive the predator away, but nothing worked. When Eva tried to resist, the mountain lion pulled her in her teeth as she ran away. After seeing the dog’s condition, Erin stopped a passing car. With the help of the driver, who had pepper spray with him, she was able to convince the mountain lion to let the dog go.The pet was immediately taken to the hospital by Erin.

They found two small fragments of bone separated from Eve’s skull after examining it.Vision was preserved despite severe damage to the eye.Eva had several convulsive seizures while on the way, but doctors managed to stabilize her.Her life is no longer in danger. It is our hope that she will be able to leave without any consequences. Erin’s husband, Connor Kenny, says she is a fighter.
